At Talbot Park Baptist Church, we believe that becoming like Christ is a life-long process. To that end, we seek to teach and equip believers at all stages of their faith journey. Every Sunday morning at 9:30, we offer Sunday School classes which provide a time of small group fellowship, prayer, and Bible study. More than just a dry academic exercise, these classes help connect our faith to our everyday lives as we struggle with real world issues. Questions are not just tolerated; they are welcomed. Our goal is to nurture disciples who are growing both intellectually and spiritually. Currently, we have two Sunday School class options for adults: the Calvary Class, which uses Smith & Helwys curriculum, and the Compass Class, which rotates between biblical and topical studies, usually lectionary-based.
In addition to Sunday School, we have numerous other studies and classes. Over the course of the year, we have several Bible studies on Wednesday nights, as well as movie nights where we discuss faith and popular films. A book group from Talbot Park meets regularly with members from the Episcopal Church of the Ascension and Royster Presbyterian Church. Books we have read include: Prayer by Philip Yancey, Short Stories by Jesus by Amy-Jill Levine, Why Jesus? by Will Willimon, Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, and The Way of the Heart by Henri Nouwen.
